Tax time in the USA!
I've been telling myself since early February that I would bring home another Makie with tax return money. I've been happily filling out my forms that I will send to my tax lady (old school!) and thinking about that check coming in.
This is Terry--based on the rattie I lost last month. She passed away after a long battle with old age and arthritis. When she was young she wasn't sweet (hence the expression I've given her) but she was clean, cunning, and fierce and I loved her. She grew up into the toughest rat I've ever known, flew half way across the US when I moved to Chicago, and lived longer than any rat I've ever had.
Anyone else looking forward to tax time as much as I am?

Whoa! She looks like one tough lady, definitely not someone you would want as an enemy!
For some reason, I can totally see her as a hard boiled cop or a detective in some big city precinct somewhere. You know, the type that makes even the baddest bad guy break out in a cold sweat when she walks into the room.
Sounds like Terry was a really special rat. What a nice tribute, and a wonderful way to sort of keep a part of her alive.
It's never easy to lose someone you love, regardless of their species, or size, the hole they leave behind in your heart is still huge.

Terry looks awesome. Hooray for ladies with full jaw lines. Sorry you lost your rat. It sounds like she was loved.
I will probably have to save any tax return for pesky adult responsibilities, barf. But I do have my eye on this girl when I order next.

Re: Tax time in the USA!
Thanks for the support, guys! I have to admit that the short lifespan of a rat (2-3 years) is a major drawback, but I've loved all my rats. No regrets!
It's funny, JRyu, I think I've described Terry (rat) as hard-boiled before! That's the best part about Makies: you can get a face that really describes the personality you want to give your doll.
ArtfulOwl, adult responsibilities are the worst! That girl looks pretty cool, too. It will be great to see that face in 3D. As far as Terry, I wanted her to look different from my other Makies, more grown up. And the rat herself had a less thin face, for a rat at least. I think she's going to be beautiful Serious, but beautiful.

Re: Tax time in the USA!
She is quite adult looking, most certainly a grown up!
She looks to me as if she could easily be a young woman in her late 20's, or even in her 30's.
So I'd say you were very successful in trying to make her appear older than your other Makies.

Re: Tax time in the USA!
Time to dust off this thread. I've almost finished with my tax return, which is SO MUCH SMALLER this year. Ugh. But Terry's still coming home. I've just been sort of waiting for a promotion of some sort. I think they may have one drop tomorrow and I've got my fingers crossed for a free pet with the purchase of a Makie.

Thanks! I can't wait to see her stern face. I'll be sure to get pictures of her up as soon as she gets here.

Group therapy time! Terry hasn't gone to print yet. I feel like waiting is like being sore from working hard: it hurts, but oddly feels good. I just can't wait to get that yellow package.

Aww, thanks Dollyay. I haven't lost faith in the 2 week turn around time. I suppose this is a sign that Terry is going to be as stubborn in nylon as she was in the flesh, though.

Mine hasn't gone to print yet either. I`m not panicking in any way either, but my confidence in the two week turn around time isn`t as strong as yours after my last experience.
I hope they both take a fast track to us :-)

Yeah, I'm not going to be surprised if it takes 15-17 days. It has happened before, but I won't be upset over 1-3 more days. I have had the occasional thought of Postman Will, though. Not serious thoughts, not really.

Re: Tax time in the USA!
Remember there's a 4 day weekend because of easter. I doubt they'll be doing much till tuesday so there may be a delay because of that.
Re: Tax time in the USA!
Holidays always mess this kind of stuff up. But Sci did arrive in Martin Luther King jr. Day so you really never know.
Jupiternames, I too have a feeling Terry will be rather stubborn! The personalities though, if a Makie was without one it would just be boring.

Is MLK day a public holiday then?
Yeah, the UK grinds to a complete hold over easter for four days, it's ridiculous.

Re: Tax time in the USA!
Now it all makes sense. Thanks for saying this p_m. I guess I need to take easter more seriously. Also, MLK day is a postal and school holiday. But it's only one day!

Re: Tax time in the USA!
Earlier this week, I told the Makies that Terry was on her way, as soon as she gets to the printer. Pepper has decided that she wants to scare Terry when she gets here, so she's been practicing "being scary"
Oh, Pepper. I don't have the heart to tell her that the only part Terry is going to be scared of is her fashion sense. D:

No, it's from a quilting store in San Diego. Would you like this shirt in trade for the wedge heels?

Or as part of the trade? I sort of feel like the shoes are worth more than the shirt.
