Re: Elisabeth is here!
Why the washing? of the doll that is, not the wig because yeek marker seepage suuuucks. I've had several vintage dolls suffer that fate due to over zealous children with marker pens. It takes forever to get out and often you can't. I have a doll who's half blue, seriously.. she's half blooming smurf. It's quite funny. clothes cover most of it but maaan, I felt sorry for her so she got to stay haha.
Loving your girls so far, you've managed to convey so much personality in them both. It's fantastic!

Re: Elisabeth is here!
Gentle washing is generally recommended to remove oils and dirt and dust from handling. The oils from your skin can react with other products and cause problems. So a wash before sealing and doing the face-up is recommended.
Since I love how poseable these dolls are, I don't stop playing with them! XD Plus they get handled at the lab, as well as from the printer. In the end, that's a lot of stuff they could have on their surface! A little wash to make sure the surface is clean to work on is good.
The only explanation I can think of for Elisabeth's dye problem is that something got quite deep into the material, and only really showed up once I started working on the head. At least it's not really a problem now, but it was pretty scary thinking I might have a ruined faceplate on my hands!
Thank you so much everyone for your kind words! I've had loads of fun working on them so far, and learned a lot. First face-ups are pretty scary, especially when I'm working on dolls I can't afford to replace haha. I hope I can keep doing face-ups somehow though, because they're loads of fun to try and inject character into the doll.
Hopefully tomorrow Elisabeth will be clothed, and maybe the weather will be decent, and I can actually take some focused pictures for once rather than blurry artificial light/blocked daylight ones! XD

Re: Elisabeth is here!
And she's done!
On the left is exactly as she arrived. Original eyes/wig/clothes, no face-up. On the right is the finished doll, complete with styled and dyed wig, custom eyes, face-up, and awesome clothes once again courtesy of C'mon Dolly.
Sorry my phone camera seems to be pretty unpredictable in quality. Sometimes it'll downright refuse to focus or fix the white balance, and sometimes it'll compete with my old DSLR. I'm hoping I'll have some much more awesome focused shots of both dolls soon. XD I'll upload a few more pictures of her later!

She turned out great. I'm glad the wig worked out. Custom clothes always push a character to the next level, and hers are super cool.

Re: Elisabeth is here!
Wow! Awesome!
Lol, I haven't even read the comic book, and I'm already a major fan!
(It's next on my list of must haves!)
I predict those two will be a major hit at Comic Con London, and I bet you're going to have lots of fans wanting to buy them on the spot! ^_~
Seriously though, you want to be extra careful and keep a close eye on them at all times during the con, especially given that their size makes them easy to pocket! Plus....... They are way too cute for people to resist!

Thanks all!
@JRyu - Thank you! If you pick it up, I hope you enjoy it!
The dolls will be kept nice and safe with me behind the table haha XD
Some more pictures, now that the weather was nice for a little bit!
And as a bonus: Here's one where they're still outdoors, but not being blasted with sunlight: XD
(You can even see a little blonde showing through on Elisabeth's wig there, whoops! Wig staining is/was such a huge potential problem because I can't afford to replace any mistakes that I washed it a million times to be safe (until I had to apply force to make it bleed colour) which meant I actually began washing the colour back out of the hair. I'd rather the little bit of show-through than the staining though, definitely!)

They look perfect just the way they are, I still love love love your idea of making your characters 'real'. (me too JRyu! they're already doing a smashing job advertising!)

Well the same thing would happen with that color of dye on a human. It's nice to see them in the bright light, though I don't know how they're handling it with one a vampire and the other so pale!
